When safety rules are followed, paintball is very safe. Our referees work hard to make sure players are following all safety rules.
Before starting their first game, players will receive a brief safety briefing that will cover all of our safety rules.
The Drop Zone Park is outside. We recommend clothing you would wear while running around in the woods. This includes: shoes with ankle support (so you don’t twist an ankle) and long sleeve clothing (and no shorts). Loose fitting clothing is best to decrease the impact of a paintball. Baseball caps worn backwards work great under the face masks we provide. Please DO NOT put face paint on. It may make you look like a warrior under your mask, but it sticks to the mask foam.
Will paintballs stain my clothes?
Not ours! But you are outdoors in the dirt and grass so we wouldn't recommend your Sunday best. As with any clothes that are nice and dirty, you should wash them by themselves, not that brand new bleach white t-shirt you brought back from vacation. By the way, paintballs are not actually paint. It is mostly food coloring and a starchy liquid. Environmentally safe!
Does it hurt?
While most hits are not painful, they generally feel like getting snapped by a wet towel and it may hurt if it catches you off guard or depending on the location of the hit.
How many people do I need to make a reservation?
We always recommend a reservation. This will guarantee that we have gear set aside and waiting for you. Individuals and small groups may play without a reservation, but we can’t promise that gear will be available to rent. Reservations will save you money, so you probably want to make one just for the discount. For a reservation you will need at the least one person (and you save money by making a reservation). Group discounts start with 6 players. Private parties start with 15 players. We can handle very large groups. If you have special needs, requests, or just some questions; give us a call.
Do I need to bring a group?
While it’s always more fun to play with friends you are more than welcome to walk on or come by on your own.
Should I tip our referee?
Tipping your referee is a nice way to show your appreciation that he or she did an outstanding job running your paintball games in a fun and safe manor. A great referee gives advice between games and helps with loading your paintballs and wiping your masks and hits. If your referee has helped make your outing a blast, please consider tipping.
How much should I tip?
Knowing when and how much to tip can be tricky, an average tip for a three hour paintball session is $1-$2 per player. You may choose to tip more generously depending on how your time was. Generally, if you had an exceptional time it would be more or a poor time then less.
When should I tip?
You can tip your referee at the end of your outing personally, in our tip box, or with our manager. All tips go directly to the referees that guided your group through the outing. Any tips handed to mangers are given to the referees (we think they deserve it too!)
How long has the park been around?
We have been around since 1989 making Drop Zone the oldest paintball park in Kansas!
What time does the park open?
The park is generally open weekends from 10am until 4pm with a morning session and an afternoon session (starting at 1pm). Private parties of 15 or more can start earlier in the morning, or play anytime during the week (daylight hours only).
What if it rains?
In the case of severe weather such as lightning, tornadoes, hail, or severe thunderstorms, the park may be temporarily closed for safety. We do however play through rain and cold.
Do you sell any food or drinks?
We always have water, pop, and sport drinks for sale. We only have food for special events. We have grills available for groups to make their own picnics.
Can I bring my own Food?
You sure can! In fact we have picnic areas even a grill available for use. Please, no alcohol. You can’t play paintball while intoxicated.
What is provided in a rental package?
You will receive a marker (paintball gun), a compressed air tank, a mask, as well as a barrel cover. Paintball goggles are also included. For younger players, we have optional chest protectors for padding.
For our younger players and groups we dial back the velocity of the markers being used and our youth scenario birthday parties use a smaller paintball with a lighter weight paintball maker for a low impact game.
That depends entirely on how you play, a case of paintballs holds 2000 rounds and bags typically hold 500 rounds. Most players shoot 400-500 paintballs in a session. It is possible to shoot as many paintballs as your trigger finger will allow.
Can I bring my own paint?
You can only use your own paintball in your own gun (not rental) and when you pay a non-discounted entry (not private groups and group rates). We reserve the right to disallow any paintballs if they are too hard or stain. Blue and red fill paintballs are not allowed.
Do you Allow First Strike paintball rounds?
At this time, Our insurance does not allow First Strike.
We may fill Co2 tanks at our shop but at the park we only fill HPA. If you do not have an HPA tank you may borrow or buy one at the park at a great discount.
